Payments Week 2008 

September 9-12, Vienna, Austria

Objective
During the Global Payments Week, the regional initiative (WHF) will organize two days for their internal discussions and also have an opportunity to meet individually to discuss topics that are more relevant. Moreover, in a plenary session, issues and challenges in payment and securities settlement system oversight and recent developments in securities settlement systems will be thoroughly analyzed and discussed with the view to identifying common areas of regional concern in order to submit to central bank Governors for their consideration. Finally, the plenary session will welcome the creation of the Private-Public Sector Partnership to enhance the efficiency of remittance services, along the lines of the CPSS-WB General Principles for Remittances

Participants 
This event is organized in the form of a Global event, gathering representatives from all over the world, including especially those from other similar regional initiatives to the WHF like the Arab Payment Initiative (API), the Commonwealth of Independent States Payments Initiative (CIS) and the South Asia Payments Initiative (SAPI), to enrich the exchange of ideas and points of view on the subject.
