Content
The course provides an overview of basic monetary and financial statistics and its content is based on the Monetary and Financial Statistics Manual and Compilation Guide (MFSMCG), 2016. The course will pay special attention to the characteristics of OFCs (insurance companies, pension funds, non-monetary market investment funds, etc.), such as their balance sheet structure and their role in the financial sector. Likewise, various aspects of financial statistics are covered, such as financial flows and stocks of all sectors of the national economy and their interactions with the rest of the world, and the balance sheet approach to vulnerability analysis is highlighted. The course consists of lectures and case studies to familiarize participants with the practical aspects of the compilation of monetary statistics, including OFCs and the basic principles underlying the compilation of financial and flow of funds statistics.
Objetive
Describe the role of Other Financial Corporations (OFC) in the financial sector and the related implications of data collection for monetary and financial statistics purposes. Distinguish between different types of OFC. Compile monetary statistics of OFCs according to the IMF 4SR standardized form for OFCs. Apply the fundamental principles of financial statistics and the balance sheet approach to vulnerability analysis.

Officials of central banks and supervisory and regulatory agencies responsible for compiling monetary and financial statistics, including supervisory agencies of non-banking financial entities.
