The seminar will cover topics, among others, such as economic forecast (Nowcasting) with techniques of Data Science; applications of Data Science in the production of statistics, applications of Big Data and Data Science in financial supervision and regulation (RegTech, Sup Tech).

This joint effort of CEMLA and Banco de España will count with the participation and presentations of officials of central banks of countries in the region, the Banco de España, as well as officials from international financial institutions.

Objective

Analize the modern data analytics tools that central banks are starting to apply. This meeting of experts aims to make a first approach to the developments and initiatives being undertaken by Latin American and Caribbean Central Banks in the field of big data and data analytics. It aims at providing a forum for debate and exchange of experiences on the progress made, the possibilities of cooperation between central banks, the technical requirements, and the skills that analysts and researchers will need to address the challenge of including these techniques in central banking´s customary instrument set.

Central bank economists and data scientists who are developing big data or data analytics projects.
