Technical Assistance. Central Banking: A Comprehensive Approach

This Technical Assistance is provided exclusively to the Banco de Guatemala and is conducted virtually from July 13 to 31, 2026. This technical assistance consists of various lectures delivered by CEMLA officials and other central banking experts about the role and functions of a central bank. It covers the institutional aspects of central banking such as autonomy, historical aspects regarding the origin of money, and topics such as the relationship of central banking to commercial banking. Additionally, it covers topics on monetary policy, financial policy, the balance of payments, and the central bank's relationship with international financial organizations.
