Virtual Policy Implementation Meeting: The NBFI sector – Financial Stability Implications
March 3 - 4, 2026
Videoconference
The purpose of this annual seminar is to address issues relevant to the operationalization of policy actions in the area of financial stability. It is jointly organized between CEMLA and the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). This year, the seminar aims to discuss the financial stability implications of the non-bank financial intermediation (NBFI) sector and its increasing interconnectedness with the traditional banking system. Given the significant growth of NBFI over recent decades, the seminar provides an overview of key trends, risk transmission channels, and vulnerabilities that may contribute to the build-up and amplification of systemic risk.
The program addresses regulatory and policy considerations related to NBFI, with particular emphasis on bank–NBFI linkages and selected experiences from the Americas. Through expert presentations and moderated discussions, the seminar promotes the exchange of views among financial authorities on supervisory approaches and policy responses to strengthen financial stability while preserving the benefits of non-bank financial intermediation. The event is aimed at mid- and high-level officials in areas related to financial stability and research departments of CEMLA member central banks and collaborating institutions.
