The Experts’ Seminar on Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Data Analytics in Central Banks, held on December 1–2, 2025 in a virtual format, brought together experts from central banks and statistical institutions to exchange experiences on the use of advanced data science and artificial intelligence tools in key central banking functions.

The first day focused on AI applications in economic forecasting, including sentiment and uncertainty indicators, as well as machine learning and deep learning models for nowcasting and inflation forecasting. The program also covered developments in SupTech and RegTech, highlighting best practices for designing and implementing supervisory technology roadmaps, AI-based chatbots for public inquiries, and natural language processing tools for supervisory purposes.

The second day addressed the use of AI and data science in statistical production and quality control, with presentations on satellite imagery, firm geolocation, and automated data quality tools. The seminar concluded with sessions on innovative applications, including the use of data science in monetary policy, AI-based analysis of cash perception, automated document summarization, measurement of economic and political uncertainty, and specialized virtual assistants. Overall, the seminar underscored the transformative potential of artificial intelligence for enhancing analytical and operational capabilities in central banks, as well as the value of cross-institutional knowledge sharing.
