November 10 - 12, 2025
CEMLA Mexico City, Mexico
Face-to-face format
The 2025 Remittances and Migration Seminar was held from November 10 to 12, 2025, at the CEMLA facilities in Mexico City. The seminar's main objective was to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences among participating countries on various aspects of remittances, migration, and financial inclusion, particularly among recipient economies. The seminar featured 21 presentations grouped into 12 thematic blocks.
The seminar agenda included presentations by specialists from central banks, international organizations, the remittance industry, and academia. On the first day, the presentations addressed recent migration policies in destination countries, the relationship between family remittances and the labor market, and the financial inclusion of remittance recipients. The profile of remittance senders and recipients in Latin America was also discussed.
On the second day, presentations were given on methodological aspects of measuring family remittances in Latin American and Caribbean countries and on the factors that determine these incomes from abroad. The seminar also included presentations on the dynamics of remittances and migration in the countries of the region and in Spain, as well as on the economy of Latin American migrants in the United States.
The seminar concluded on the third day with presentations on the relationship between transit migration and the remittances migrants receive on their journey to their destination country, as well as on the recent evolution of family remittances in Latin America.
The event was attended by 34 participants from 13 central banks in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe, as well as representatives from international organizations, the remittance industry, and academia.
