The fourth Technical Assistance of 2022 is provided to the Bank of Guatemala and the Central Bank of Bolivia, the following topics will be addressed: general aspects of Central Bank digital currencies; characteristics of CBDCs; retail, wholesale and hybrid CBDCs; the consensus protocol in CBDCs; functions of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and Blockchain; risks associated with CBDCs; benefits of CBDCs to Payment Systems; motivations and challenges of Central Banks to implement CBDCs; impact of CBDCs on monetary policy and financial stability; regulatory framework applicable to CBDCs; and, the experience in Latin America and the Caribbean about CBDC-related projects.

Objetive

The objective of this event is to support through the technical assistance program, the Central Banks that request it and in the topic of their interest. On this occasion, the Bank of Guatemala and the Central Bank of Bolivia requested a technical assistance on the integral vision of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).

The event is aimed at officials and professionals from Bank of Guatemala, Central Bank of Bolivia and central bankers interested in this topic.
