IV Meeting of Heads of Financial Market Infrastructures

The IV Meeting of Heads of Financial Market Infrastructures was held in hybrid format on October 30-31, 2023. Representatives of Banco de España, Banco Central do Brasil, Banco de México, Banco de la República, Banco Central de la República Dominicana, Banco Central de Reserva del Perú, Banco Central del Uruguay, Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador, Deutsche Bundesbank and the OECD presented their recent experiences at the Meeting.
Among the topics discussed were an overview of the instant payments system and the PIX in Brazil, structure, use cases and challenges of the instant payment system in Colombia, an overview of the transfer 365 system in El Salvador, a snapshot for enhancing cross-border payments in the G20 roadmap, remittances as a cross-border payment for Latin-American economies, the limits of DeFi for financial inclusion and beneficial concepts of decentralisation in TradFi and Uruguay’s roadmap for CBDCs since 2017.
Finally, the Fintech Forum presented their reports on Fintech regulation and Stablecoins taxonomy and regulatory and supervisory implications.
